日常の暮らしに感動体験を持ち込んだ、「洞窟」のある家。
「暗がりと明るみ」が共存する、光環境の強弱あるダイナミックな心地よさを計画した。
2020年のコロナ渦の中、家で働き、過ごす時間が半ば強制的に増えた。出勤という身にまとう環境をスイッチするきっかけがなくなると、日々団欒を重ねた居心地のよい家もどこか単調で物足りなく思える。改めて人間が生きていく「住処」の役割とは何か思考を巡らせた。
最高に楽しく仲間と笑い合う時間も、落ち込んで悲しい時間も、なんてことない日常こそ人生の時間の大半を占める欠かせないエネルギーだ。そんな日常の中の小さな感動を見過ごさない感性を養うような、刺激的な空間体験が家には必要ではないかと考えた。
そこで、リビングのように機能で呼ばれる部屋はなくして、既存の窓のない部屋を最大化するように、空っぽで暗い、洞窟と呼ぶ不安定な「暗がり空間」を配置した。その周りを囲むのは正反対に明るく家らしい設えの異なる3つの部屋である。この強弱ある4つの環境を行き来しながら、どこで働き、どこで食べ、どこでリラックスするか、自分の感性を能動的に活性化し滞在場所を選び取る「環境」としての住処を目指した。（梅村陽一郎、神永侑子）
Renovation of an apartment building that goes back and forth between dark and light
A house with a “cave” that brings an emotional experience into everyday life.
We planned a dynamic comfort with a strong and weak light environment where “darkness and lightness” coexist.
In the COVID-19 Vortex of 2020, the time spent working at home and spending time at home have increased halfway. When we no longer have the opportunity to switch our environment by going to work, the cozy house where we have spent many happy days seem monotonous and unsatisfactory. Once again, I pondered the role of a “dwelling place” for human beings to live.
Whether it is a time to laugh with friends in the most joyful way or a time to be sad and depressed, ordinary daily life is an indispensable energy that occupies the majority of our time in life. We thought a house should have a stimulating spatial experience that nurtures the sensibility to not overlook the small emotions in our daily lives.
Therefore, we eliminated rooms called by their function, such as the living room, and placed an empty, dark, unstable “dark space” that we call a cave to maximize the existing windowless room. Surrounding it are three rooms that are exactly the opposite, bright and different, set up in a house-like manner. The aim was to create an “environment” where one can actively activate one’s senses and choose where to to work, where to eat, and where to relax while moving back and forth between these four environments of varying strengths and weaknesses.
