賑やかな文教地区、比較的小さいスケールの住宅が建ち並ぶ古い市街地の一角に建つ住宅。
北側の道路以外、南、東、西の3方を隣家に囲まれた場所にあって、周辺の微細な変化に反応し得る方法として、いくつかの建屋が重なり合ったような建ち方とした。
通りに面した小屋は納屋（ガレージ）で、屋根から採光する明るい半外部の建屋である。通りから奥に位置する2階建ては母屋で、1階に寝間を、2階に居間を配置した。母屋の脇に水場を設けている。納屋、母屋、水場といったグランドレベルの建屋は、隣地の建物や塀に囲まれ道路が唯一の接続ポイントである状況に素直に従い、道路に並行する配置をとった。
1階の建屋の上に架けられた高い位置のヴォリュームは、食事小屋（キッチンとダイニング）である。
3階建てが建て込む環境だが、高さを上げると敷地境界を示す塀やフェンスは視界から消え、バルコニーのセットバックもあり、道路レベルよりも街が粗になってくる。そうして隣地の建物と建物の間に現れた抜けに反応して、この建屋は斜めに振った。風通しと採光を確保し、道路の反対側で街に接続するポイントとなっている。
内部空間は、建屋が重なり合うことで生まれた環境を新たに敷地と見立て、庭のようにつくろうとした。全体の構成から演繹的にデザイン言語を展開するのではなく、さまざまな要素が強い階層性なく混在する状況をつくろうとしている。全体のヴォリュームを床、壁、天井という建築要素に分解し素材によって分節することで、ヴォリュームの構成を曖昧にし、さらに階段、手摺り、家具、建具、棚板といった2次エレメントもそれぞれ個性ある存在として1つひとつ設計している。
あるときは街と繋がり、あるときはフロアの構成を感じ、あるときは引手やプレートの連続性が見える、さまざまな関係性が雑居する場所をつくりたいと考えている。（吉村真基）
Urban houses that turn around in response to the environment and connect to the city
The house is located in a busy educational district, in the corner of an old urban area with houses of relatively small scale.
Except for the street on the north side, the site is surrounded by neighboring houses on the south, east, and west sides. Therefore, to respond to the minute changes in the surroundings, the house was built as several buildings overlapping each other.
The shed facing the street is a garage, a bright semi-exterior building with light coming from the roof. The two-story building at the back of the house is the main house, with a sleeping room on the first floor and a living room on the second floor. A water feature is located beside the main house. The ground-level buildings such as the barn, the main house, and the watering hole are placed parallel to the street by the situation where the road is the only connection point surrounded by neighboring buildings and walls.
The high volume above the first-floor building is the dining area (kitchen and dining room).
A three-story building dominates the environment, but as the height was raised, the wall and fence marking the site boundary disappeared from view. It is also set back by a balcony, making the city more sparse than the street level. In this way, the building swings diagonally in response to the loopholes that appear between the buildings on the adjacent land. In addition, it is a connection point to the city on the other side of the street, ensuring air circulation and lighting.
For the interior space, the environment created by the overlapping buildings is regarded as a new site, and I tried to create it like a garden. Rather than developing a design language deductively from the overall composition, I tried to create a situation where various elements are mixed together without a strong hierarchy. By breaking down the overall volume into architectural elements such as floors, walls, and ceilings and dividing them by material, the composition of the volume is made ambiguous.
I want to create a place where various relationships coexist, where one can sometimes connect with the city, sometimes feel the composition of the floor, and sometimes see the continuity of handle and plates. (Maki Yoshimura)
