躯体の持つ歴史にアンティーク性を見出すリノベーション

高松市内の雑居ビルが今回の敷地である。ビルの3階部分に位置し、外からはまったく中の様子が伺えない造りであった。
初めて内見したとき、外はすぐそこにあるのに遮断されているため別世界に来たような錯覚を覚えた。
この体験をデザインに落とし込めないか。これがすべての出発点であった。

設計を進める中で、クライアントはアンティークテイストを希望していることが分かった。
ただ、高価なアンティーク品を揃えることは予算的に厳しく、違うアプローチでアンティークを魅せる必要があった。

そもそもアンティークとはモノに歴史が加算され、誰かが評価すればアンティークとなり、評価がなければジャンクになる、というようにかなり流動的で主観的なものである。
となればこの雑居ビルの汚れや傷、痕跡といった歴史に価値を見出すことができれば、アンティークとして解釈できるのではないだろうか。
躯体に漂うアンティークの要素と我々のデザインを掛けることで、「新しいアンティーク」を表現しようと考えた。

具体的には、躯体はスケルトンで利用、傷や汚れといった痕跡はアンティーク要素とし空間に還元した。
これらの要素をデザインしたアンティークテイストと混在させる。そこにあった要素が新しく入ったアンティークテイストを立派に見せ、テイストはアンティーク要素を際立たせる。

2つのアンティークから良い意味で違和感のある、既視感のない空間が完成した。
そしてミラーの無限反射が、空間の世界観を別次元のものへ引き上げ、最初に述べた「別世界に来たような錯覚」を想起させる。
現代人が経験したことのない混沌の時代だからこそ、日々の喧噪を忘れる、別世界が必要なのではないだろうか。（SFSA）

A renovation that finds antiques in the history of the skeleton

The site for this project was a small building in Takamatsu City. The site is on the third floor of the building, and from the outside, it is impossible to see what is going on inside.
When I first saw the building, I felt like I was in a different world because the outside was right there, but it was blocked off.
I wondered if I could incorporate this experience into the design. I was the starting point for everything.

As we proceeded with the design, we found out that the client wanted an antique taste.
However, the budget was too tight for expensive antique items, so we had to take a different approach to appeal to the antiques.

In the first place, antiques are pretty fluid and subjective, as history is added to an object, and if someone appreciates it, it becomes an antique, and if not, it becomes junk.
Therefore, if we can find value in the history of the dirt, scratches, and traces, we can interpret it as an antique.
We decided to express a “new antique” by combining the antique elements of the building frame with our design.

Specifically, we used the skeleton of the building frame and returned the traces of scratches and stains to the space as antique elements.
These elements are mixed with the antique taste of the hip wall we designed. The existing elements make the newly introduced antique taste look magnificent, and the taste makes the antique elements stand out.

The two antique elements create an uncomfortable space in a good way, without a sense of déjà vu.
The mirror placed to amplify this space raises the world view of the space to another dimension, evoking the “illusion of having come to another world” that I mentioned at the beginning.
It is precisely because we live in an age of chaos that modern people have never experienced, that we need another world where we can forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. (SFSA)
