昭和40年代に開発された横浜の古い分譲地の一画に〈狭間の清籟〉は計画された。
40代の夫婦2人の住まいである。
周辺環境を考慮し街に溶け込みながら、内部に新しい風景を創出することを最大の目的とした住宅である。
2つのコアに挟まれるように生まれた中庭は、プライバシーを確保しながら、内外の境目を曖昧にする開放性の高い空間となった。
最寄りの駅から計画地まで歩いてみると、大きな敷地を分割した建売住宅と築50年を超える古い邸宅が混同している、統一感のない街並みが続いた。
そこで、街に対して謙虚に佇む形態を模索することとなる。
2人暮らしのため、そこまで大きな床面積は必要なく、必然的に平屋の構想としてスタートした。
敷地面積は広いものの、周りを住宅に囲まれており、プライバシーと開放性の観点から内に開く形体を採用することとなる。
まず、東西方向を軸として2つのコアに分け、南側のコアの一部を2階建てとすることにより、道路面から視線を空へと逃がすような片流れの屋根とした。これは、街に対して威圧感を与えないデザインとなっている。
また、奥行きのある形態にはなるが、距離感がぼかされ豪奢なイメージから遠ざける目的でもある。
屋根、すなわち建築の形状にて「光」「視線」「風」をコントロールしている。
隣家の窓が集まる個所を2階建てとし、そこからゆるやかに道路へ屋根を傾斜させ、北側のコアに南東の気持ちのよい光を集める計画となっている。
2つのコアはそれぞれの独立性を高めつつ、中庭を介し互いの気配を感じながら共存する。その中庭を廊下がぐるりと一周できるようになっており、その廊下も居室の一部とし中庭と繋がる形状とした。これは内外が反転することにより、距離感が増幅される計画となっている。
また、場所を少し移動しただけでまったく違う景色が展開され、夫婦それぞれがお気に入りの場所、場面を見つけられるような日常が生まれる空間となった。

A one-sided roof house that surrounds the courtyard with two cores
This house was planned in an old subdivision in Yokohama that was developed in the 1965. It is a home for a couple in their 40s.
The main purpose of the house was to create a new landscape inside the house while blending in with the surrounding environment.
The courtyard, which is located between the two cores, is a highly open space that blurs the boundary between the interior and exterior while ensuring privacy.
Walking from the nearest station to the project site, we found that the streetscape lacked a sense of unity, with a mixture of built-for-sale houses divided on large lots and old residences built over 50 years ago.
Therefore, we sought a form that would stand humbly against the town.
Since two people live in the house, there was no need for such a large floor space, and the project inevitably began as a one-story concept.
Although the site is large, it is surrounded by houses, and from the viewpoint of privacy and openness, we decided to adopt a form that opens inward.
First, the east-west direction was divided into two cores, with the southern core being a two-story building with a single-flow roof to draw the eye away from the road surface and into the sky.
This design makes the building less intimidating to the city.
Although the roof has a deep form, it also serves the purpose of blurring the sense of distance and avoiding an image of opulence.
The roof, or the shape of the building, controls “light,” “sight lines,” and “wind.
The roof is two stories high at the point where the windows of the neighboring houses converge and slope gently down to the street from there so that light from the southeast is concentrated in the northern core.
The two cores are independent of each other but coexist with each other through the courtyard. A corridor circles the courtyard, and the corridor is part of the living room, connecting it to the courtyard. This plan amplifies the sense of distance by reversing the inside and outside.
The space is designed so that each couple can find their favorite place and scene in their daily life.
