下川端に建つ地元オーナーの経営する複合ビルの2階フロアを、4室の賃貸オフィスとしてリノベーションしたプロジェクトである。一般的な賃貸オフィスは中廊下からそれぞれのオフィスにアプローチする構成になっているため、中廊下は日中でも照明を付けなければならず、開口もないため風も通らず不健康なイメージがある。減価償却の終わったビルであるため、共用部にゆとりを与えながらオフィス内部のプライバシーを保護しつつ、全体が空間的に繋がり、街への広がりの感じられるオフィス空間を目指した。
オフィスから離れて思い思いに仕事をしたり休憩したりすることのできる「テラス」と名付けたスペースに通じる共用廊下とオフィスの境界には、アクリル板の障子とポリカーボネートの波板で構成されたスクリーンを吊っている。このスクリーンはオフィス内部のプライバシーを保護しながら、オフィス内部の活動や建物の水平窓から入る街や街路樹の様子や光を共用廊下へ緩やかに届ける装置である。（水谷 元）
Office space that delivers a sense of the city through common areas
This project is to renovate the second floor of a building complex owned by a local owner in Shimokawabata into four rental offices. Since most rental offices have a central corridor to approach each office, the corridor has to be lighted even during the daytime. As a result, it has no openings to allow airflow, giving it an unhealthy image. Since the building was already depreciated, the goal was to create an office space spatially connected to the entire building. That gave a sense of spaciousness to the city while protecting the privacy of the interior of the office by giving more space to the common areas.
At the boundary between the office and the common corridor leading to the “terrace,” a space where people can work or take a break away from the office, a screen made of acrylic shoji screens and polycarbonate corrugated sheets is hung. This screen is a device that protects the privacy of the interior of the office while at the same time allowing the activities inside the office and the view of the city and street trees and light coming in through the horizontal windows of the building to reach the common corridor gently.
