本計画はアパレル事業をされている企業のオフィス兼ギャラリーの新築計画である。
敷地は滋賀県近江八幡市の八幡山の麓に位置し、水郷巡りの船着場の前という好立地な場所であった。この素晴らしい計画地でクライアントは建築自体が目立たず自然に溶け込むような建物を望まれていた。
そこで本計画はできる限り建物の存在を消すため、屋根だけで建物デザインを行い、そこに樹木と石で建物を覆う計画とした。屋根には大きな穴をあけ、そこに大樹を設けることで木漏れ日の下に憩い場をつくり出した。
これにより建物自体は凛と佇みながらも、船着場の桜並木と背景の八幡山と本建物が一体となり、自然に溶け込んだ建物をつくり出すことができた。
本建物は近江八幡の自然に溶け込み寄り添いながらも、街の人たちのシンボル的存在になりながら親しんでもらえる存在になってくれればと思う。（久我義孝）
Large-roofed office and gallery that blends in with nature
This project is a new office and gallery for a company in the apparel business.
The site is conveniently located at the foot of Mt. Hachiman in Omi-Hachiman City, Shiga Prefecture, in front of the landing stage of the Suigo Tour boats. The client wanted a building that would blend in with the natural surroundings without being conspicuous.
Therefore, in order to make the building as invisible as possible, we designed the building with only the roof and covered it with trees and stones. In addition, we made a large hole in the roof, and we placed a large tree there to create a resting place under the sunlight filtering through the trees.
The building stands dignified, but the rows of cherry trees at the pier and Mt.
We hope that this building will become a symbolic presence for the people of Omi Hachiman while blending in with the nature of Omihachiman and becoming familiar to them. (Yoshitaka Kuga)
