日本における観光ビジネスに関心をもった、中国武漢でホテル業を営む施主が計画する宿泊施設である。敷地は大阪の四つ橋線花園町駅から徒歩5分、低価格の宿泊施設や民宿でも知られる西成区に位置する。
古い長屋が残るこの地域は、中心地の難波から2駅の利便性と比較的安価な地価から街の更新が進み、日常的な対話の場であった路地や低層の長屋が木造3階建アパートや中層マンションに変わり、閉じた環境をつくっている。本計画では、ホテルのようにプライバシーは確保しながら、シェアハウスのように共用部を選択的に利用できる、新しい宿泊施設「シェア型レジデンス」を築くことで、まちとのつながりを考える。
周囲にあわせて高さは2層に抑え、リニアなボリュームをCの字型に折り畳むことで、落ちついた中庭を形づくる。2階の個室にはそれぞれ勾配屋根をかけ、全体を小さな個室の集合体として表現した。小屋根が連続する集合体としての佇まいが、大小スケールの建物が混在する街並みと調和し、ヒューマンスケールなまちの風景のゆるやかな継承を心がけた。
各個室は中庭を介してさまざまな方位から採光ができ、最大限の個室数を確保した。個室ごとに寝室、キッチン、バスルーム、トイレが備えられプライバシーを確保する一方、通りに面した「まちのリビング」、2階の通路を拡張した「ランドリーテラス」、自然を感じられる「まちのテラス」が、対話を誘発する共用空間となり、地域に対しても開かれている。
個室はすべて、周囲への開き方に応じてレイアウトが異なり、多様な選択性をもたらしている。内部は木目調や左官調の現代的な和風を基調としており、障子戸の開閉により外部との関係をコントロールし、プライバシーを確保する。障子を介して柔らかい光が差し込む落ち着いた空間となっている。1階の個室は畳敷きで、中庭や道に面して掃き出し窓が設けられた開放的な空間である。2階の個室は、屋根の形状が内部に勾配天井として現れる特徴的な空間である。一部の個室には屋上テラスがあり、屋外の居間として利用が可能である。各個室は機能的でコンパクトなレイアウトながらも、共用空間を自分の居場所として考えることで私的領域が拡大する。
都市的環境にある「シェア型レジデンス」が、プライバシーとコモンスペースを両立し、閉鎖的環境をつくる開発ではなく共用空間を介して街と共存する、新しい宿泊施設のかたちとなることを期待する。（小野龍人＋三浦朋訓＋Yang Shikwan）
A new accommodation facility with shared space that coexists with the city
The client plans this accommodation facility for a hotel business owner in Wuhan, China, who is interested in the tourism business in Japan. The site is a 5-minute walk from Hanazonocho Station on Osaka’s Yotsubashi Line and is located in Nishinari-ku, an area known for low-cost lodging and guest houses.
This area, where old row houses still remain, is undergoing urban renewal due to the convenience of two stops from Namba, the city’s center, and relatively low land prices. Alleys and low-rise row houses that used to be placed for daily conversation have been replaced by three-story wooden apartments and mid-rise condominiums, creating a closed environment. This project is designed to create a new type of accommodation, a “shared residence,” where privacy is maintained like a hotel. Still, the common areas, like a shared house, can be used selectively, thereby creating a connection with the town.
The second-floor private rooms are each covered with a sloping roof, and the whole is expressed as an aggregate of small private rooms. The appearance of the building as a series of small roofs is in harmony with the townscape, where buildings of various sizes are interspersed, and we tried to create a gentle continuation of the human-scale landscape of the town.
Each private room is illuminated from various directions through the courtyard, and the maximum number of private rooms is secured. The “living room of the town” facing the street, the “laundry terrace” extending the passageway on the second floor, and the “terrace of the town” where one can feel nature are shared spaces that induce dialogue and are open to the community while ensuring privacy.
All of the private rooms have different layouts depending on how they open to the surroundings, providing a variety of choices. The interior is based on a modern Japanese style with wood grain and plastering, and the relationship with the outside is controlled by the opening and closing of shoji doors, ensuring privacy. The private rooms on the first floor are open and airy, with tatami mats and windows facing the courtyard and the street; the private rooms on the second floor are characterized by the shape of the roof, which appears as a sloping ceiling in the interior. In addition, some private rooms have a rooftop terrace that can be used as an outdoor living room. While each private room has a functional and compact layout, the private sphere is expanded by considering the shared space as one’s place.
We hope this “shared residence” in an urban environment will become a new form of accommodation that combines privacy and common space and coexists with the city through shared space rather than a development that creates a closed environment. （Tatsuhito Ono + Tomonori Miura + Shikwan Yang）
