全国で数百のコワーキングスペースFCを展開する「いいオフィス」の下北沢オフィス計画。
主にクリエイターを対象とした月額契約の個別ブースや数時間のドロップイン利用など、多様なコミュニケーションを取りやすいプログラムと、コワーキングしやすいオフィス環境の両立を求められた。
3層に分かれたフロアを視覚的にも用途的にもつなげるため、隙間の空いた「アミダウォール」で空間を構成した。
通常コワーキングの中の個別ブースは、消防上欄間アキとする必要があるが、整然と欄間のみ隙間がある個別ブースはなんだか居心地がよくない。
欄間アキのような隙間を、パラパラと立面的に散らばらせることで、空気や光の抜けをコントロールしながら、廊下側からは中が見えず、個別ブース内からは廊下の雰囲気が伝わりやすい、ルーバーのような効果が生まれた。そのためブース内はコンパクトではあるが体感的に開放性を感じることができる。
隙間の一部は入居クリエイターそれぞれが勝手に展示などを楽しめる展示スペースとした。
大小さまざま、高さもさまざまな展示パネルが並ぶと窮屈な廊下が回遊性のある表情豊かなギャラリーになった。
通常下地として活用される針葉樹合板を、不燃加工し表層材として活用することで、これから形になっていくさまざまなクリエイティブの下地の場となるようにと願いを込めた。
外観から見ると、見下ろす半地下から見上げる上層階まで、各層アミダウォールがフロアを貫通してつながっているように錯覚し、おおらかな風景を下北沢の路地に生み出している。
運営開始後、入居クリエイターの皆さんを中心としたワークショップで、賑やかなウォールアートに溢れイキイキとした空間に成長を続けている。（土屋匡生）
A generous shared office with well-designed partitions
The Shimokitazawa office project for “E Office,” which operates hundreds of coworking space franchises nationwide.
The project required both an office environment conducive to coworking and a program that facilitated diverse communication, such as individual booths with monthly contracts mainly for creators and drop-in use for a few hours.
To connect the three separate floors visually and in terms of use, the space was configured with an “Amida (ladder lottery) wall” with gaps in between.
Normally, individual booths in a coworking space need to be “Ranma-open” for firefighting purposes, but individual booths with gaps only between columns in an orderly fashion are somewhat uncomfortable.
By scattering the gaps like a “Ranma open” in a vertical plane, we created a louver-like effect that controls the air and light flow while allowing the inside to be unseen from the corridor side and the atmosphere of the corridor to be felt from inside the individual booths. The booths are, therefore, compact but provide a sense of openness.
A portion of the space between the booths was used as an exhibition space where each resident creator could enjoy exhibiting on their own.
The cramped corridor became an expressive gallery with a sense of circulation when lined with exhibition panels of various sizes and heights.
The softwood plywood, normally used as a base material, was processed to be non-combustible and used as a surface material, hoping that it would serve as a base material for various creative works that will take shape in the future.
From the outside, the building creates the illusion that each level of the Amida wall is connected through the floor, from the half-basement level looking down to the upper floors looking up, creating a generous landscape in the alleyway of Shimokitazawa.
Since the start of its operation, the space has continued to grow into a lively space filled with lively wall art through workshops led by the resident creators. (Masao Tuchiya)
