リビングを核に内と外が交わり、奥行きを生む住宅

施主の要望の「プライバシーを守りつつ使える外部空間がほしい」ということも踏まえて、敷地境界線をぐるりとなぞるように建物を配置。採光を最大限確保するため、北側に2階建ての居住棟を、南側に平屋建の水回りを配した。その間を中庭として、南北の棟を繋ぐブリッジをリビングとした。

リビングは中庭を横断し、分断する。東西にそれぞれ性質の異なる、2つの中庭が生まれる。1つは、玄関ポーチやカーポートからアクセスできる、わりとオープンな中庭。客人を迎え入れる場にもなる。もう1つは、屋根（ピロティ）が掛かり、半室内的に使えるひっそりとした中庭。キッチンのそばに設けているので、家族だけで食事したり、お茶してくつろいだりできる。どちらもプライベート性は確保しながら完全には閉じることなく、周囲の環境と緩やかな関わりをもたせている。

リビングは大開口を設けて、外部との連続性を高めた。これにより2つの中庭がリビングを介してひと続きになって、敷地の東西を一直線に貫く。内部は、生活動線をあえて長めかつスキップしながら続いていくよう複雑に構成した。次々と展開していく場面によって、奥行きのある空間が体験され、面積以上の広さが得られている。リビングはその交差点のような居場所である。

内外共にリビングがつなぎ役、いわば引き立て役にまわって、敷地全体がいきいきとした居住空間となることを目指した。（渡部光樹、渡部梨華）

A house where the inside and outside intersect through the living room, creating depth

Based on the client’s request for an exterior space that can be used while preserving privacy, the building is arranged to follow the site’s boundary. In order to maximize lighting, a two-story residential building was placed on the north side, and a one-story water room was placed on the south side. The living room serves as a bridge connecting the north and south wings, with the courtyard located between them.

The living room crosses and divides the courtyard. Two courtyards, each with distinct characteristics, are created on the east and west sides: one is a relatively open courtyard accessible from the front porch and carport, and the other serves as a welcoming space. The first is a relatively open courtyard accessible from the front porch and carport, which will also serve as a welcoming place for guests. The other is a secluded courtyard with a roof (piloti) that can be used as a semi-indoor space. It is located near the kitchen, allowing the family to dine alone or relax with a cup of tea. Both of these spaces are private, yet not completely closed off, and have a gentle relationship with their surroundings.

The living room features a large opening, creating a sense of continuity with the outside. This allows the two courtyards to be connected through the living room, running in a straight line from east to west of the site. The interior is intricately composed of long and skipping lines that represent daily activities. The continuous development of scenes creates a space with depth, giving the house a sense of space that is larger than its physical area. The living room is like a crossroads.

The living room acts as a link, a complement, so to speak, to the interior and exterior, and the entire site is intended to be a lively living space. (Kouki Watanabe, Rika Watanabe)
