物で満たされた現代において、これ以上消費施設が必要なのか。今までの商業施設と同じようなコピーはいらないのではないか。私たちには考える必要があった。私たちに必要なのは、街と共生し成長し続けるコミュニティである。そして〈東急プラザ原宿「ハラカド」〉は、新時代の商業施設として東京・原宿に誕生した。
仲間が集まり共創できる空間、美味しい料理を食べながら会話が楽しめる空間、リラックスしてストレスから解放できる空間、この場所には都市に必要な余白がすべて揃い、働くと遊ぶが交わる「創造施設」が街と人を繋いでいる。
原宿はクリエイターが集まる街として発展してきた歴史がある。あらゆるクリエイターに施設を開放し、施設運営に関わってもらうことで、商業施設における持続可能性を追求している。消費される場所は廃れていくが、人々が関わり成長しながら多世代に渡って新陳代謝が起こり続ける場所は、都市の新たな代替手段として受け入れられるだろう。
空間デザインは入居者のアイデアを最大化するため、変化に対応しやすく柔軟性をもたせている。入居者同士が隣人のように有機的に繋がり、創造性を拡張する手助けを担っている。

A “Creative Facility” Where Work and Play Converge
In our modern world filled with material possessions, do we really need more consumer facilities? Don’t we need something different from the same old commercial spaces? We had to think about this. What we need is a community that coexists with the city and continues to grow. And so, Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado” was born in Tokyo’s Harajuku as a new-era commercial facility.
A space where friends gather to co-create, a space to enjoy conversation over delicious food, a space to relax and release stress—this place holds all the breathing room a city needs. A “creative facility” where work and play intersect connects the town and its people.
Harajuku has a history of developing as a town where creators gather. By opening the facility to all creators and involving them in its operation, it pursues sustainability within a commercial facility. Places that are merely consumed eventually decline, but places where people engage, grow, and sustain a continuous cycle of renewal across generations will likely be embraced as a new alternative for the city.
The spatial design is flexible and adaptable, maximizing the ideas of its occupants. It facilitates organic connections among occupants, such as neighbors, helping expand creativity.
