インド・ケララ州ワヤナードの広大なプランテーション内に佇む〈Altitude〉は、インドの建築事務所 Stapatiが設計を手がけたハイエンドなプライベート・エステート（宿泊施設）です。

360度のパノラマビューを「額縁」のように切り取る軽快な鋼鉄フレームと、屋内外の境界を曖昧にする透明感あふれる空間設計により、周囲の雄大な自然環境と建築がシームレスに溶け合う空間をつくり出しています。

雄大な自然に抱かれたモダン・ラグジュアリーの探求

〈Altitude〉は、インド有数の避暑地であるケララ州ワヤナードの魅惑的な自然の中に、丹念につくり上げられたプライベート・エステートである。650エーカーにも及ぶ紅茶、コーヒー、カルダモンのプランテーションに囲まれた〈Altitude〉は、ゲストに完璧な滞在体験を提供することを重視しつつ、モダンなラグジュアリー感を体現している。

点在する現代的な各建築物は、パトロンと建築家という2人の友人同士が、幾度もの対話と現地視察を重ねた末に生み出された。その結果として、折衷的かつ実験的な建築群と、ハイエンドな代替宿泊施設というコンセプトが誕生したのである。

絶景を切り取る額縁としての「レジデンス」

〈Altitude〉における最大の見どころは、このプライベート・エステートが誇る360度のパノラマビューを一望できる「レジデンス」である。その鋼鉄のフレーム構造は、起伏のある地形の上に軽やかに佇み、息をのむような周囲の景観をまるで額縁のように美しく切り取っている。

本プロジェクトの計画および開発は、この敷地がもつ数多くの絶景ポイントを最大限に活かすことを意図して進められた。

屋内外をシームレスにつなぐ透明な空間設計

空へ羽ばたく翼のようなキャノピーは、入念に設計されたガラス張りのボリュームの上に広がるようにデザインされている。その透明感あふれるフォルムは、周囲の自然環境とのシームレスな視覚的つながりを生み出す。屋内と屋外の境界線を曖昧にぼかす一方で、コンクリートのマスを巧みに配置することで、利用者のプライバシーもしっかりと確保している。

この現代的な邸宅の1階には、リビングとダイニングルームを囲み、敷地を横切って裏手のゲストベッドルームへと続くインフィニティプールが設けられている。さらに2階に配置されたマスターベッドルームとその他のゲストベッドルームからは、敷地を包み込むドラマチックな眺望を存分に堪能できる。

ミニマルデザインがもたらす日常からの解放

視界を遮るソリッドな壁を排除した設計により、このファームハウスを取り囲む手付かずの自然をダイレクトに感じることができ、滞在における居住体験をより高い次元へと昇華させている。

時代を超越したこのミニマルなデザインは、都会の喧騒から遠く離れ、深い安らぎの中で日常から完全に解放されるひとときをゲストに約束する。

ALTITUDE
Location: Wayanad, Kerala, India

‘Altitude’ is a private estate experience meticulously crafted within the enchanting Wayanad hill-station. Located with 650 acres of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations, Altitude evokes a sense of modern luxury with equal importance given to presenting impeccable experience. Each of the contemporary structures, were developed between conversations and site visits among two friends, a patron and an architect. The result is a series of eclectic and experimental structures and a high-end alternative accommodation concept.
The piéce de résistance of Altitude Private Mountains is the Residence which encapsulates 360 panoramic views of the private estate. The steel frame structure sits lightly on the terrain, framing views of the stunning landscape. The planning and development of the project was done to honour the multiple vantage points the site provided.
The winged canopy is designed to stretch over the thoughtfully designed glass volume. The transparency of the form provides a seamless visual connection to the surroundings. It blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor thresholds while the interplay of the solid concrete mass allows for the user’s privacy. This contemporary house hosts an infinity pool that wraps around the living and dining room on the ground level, spanning the site all the way to the guest bedroom on the rear. The master and the other guest bedroom take advantage of the dramatic views surrounding the plot from the first floor.
The absence of solid walls elevates the experience of the user by letting them enjoy the pristine environment encircling the farmhouse. This timeless minimalistic design allows the guests to disconnect in repose, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
