島酒場黒潮 / 小野良輔建築設計事務所

既存タイルに呼応する格子をモチーフにリノベーションした郷土料理店

奄美大島の繁華街・屋仁川通りの裏通りに位置する郷土料理居酒屋。

スケルトンの店舗がもともともっている「素材感」を新たな仕上げで隠してしまうことには抵抗がある。
すべてクリアランスして綺麗にしてしまうくらいならいっそ、「スケルトンに残置された床タイルや壁のクラックも新たな仕上げに影響を与えるようなものにできないか」と考えた。
スケルトンの床の一部には50mm角の正方形のタイルが残されていた。それを手がかりに、和食居酒屋の意匠と掛け合わせていくことにした。
正方形タイル目地をモルタルでフロッタージュし、格子柄を浮かび上がらせた。それに呼応するように、天井・外壁・内壁の意匠を決定していくプロセスを取った。
その中で設定したルールは、（1）既存の素材を完全に隠してしまうことは避けること、（2）下地を仕上げとして昇華させることの2点である。
（1）は前述の通り、（2）については、本来はスケルトン→下地工事→仕上げ工事となる施工プロセスをスケルトン→仕上げ工事とショートカットすることにより、（1）を表現しながら工期・コストの圧縮が可能になると考えたからである。

【外壁・天井】
下地材である24mm×36mmの下桟で構成し、天井下地の野縁組みをそのまま化粧として仕上げた。下地材は安価なぶん、曲がりや節が多いため、最低限死に節のないものを選定し、多少の曲りを許容する代わりにそれを感じさせない立体的な格子組みとしている。

【座敷床】
構造用針葉樹合板をサンドペーパー＋塗装仕上げ。

【内外壁・床】
左官は既存下地にパテ処理なし、寒水石混在モルタルで下地を拾うほど薄く仕上げ、建物自体の肌感を継承する仕上げとした。

【テーブル・カウンター】
天板はt＝30mmのパイン集成材を使用し、カウンターは幕板を回して厚みのある材料のように見せている。集成材の柄の反復を活かし、留め加工をせず1枚の材のように見えるディテールとしている。

表通りと比べやや暗い裏通りを明るく照らす提灯が、外壁面の木格子のランダムな影をより柔らかく感じさせている。（小野良輔）

A local cuisine renovated with a lattice motif that matches the existing tiles

This local cuisine tavern is on the back street of Yanigawadori—the downtown area of Amami Oshima.

We were reluctant to hide the original “materiality” of the skeleton store by adding new finishes.
Rather than just clear and clean everything up, we thought, “Can’t we make the floor tiles and wall cracks left on the skeleton have an impact on the new finish?
A 50mm square tile was left on the part of the floor of the skeleton. Taking this as a clue, we decided to cross-fertilize it with the design of a Japanese-style pub.
The square tile joints were mortar-frottaged to reveal a lattice pattern. The process of determining the design of the ceiling, exterior, and interior walls was carried out in response to this.
Two rules were established: (1) avoid completely concealing the existing materials, and (2) sublimate the substrate as a finish.
The reason for (1) is as mentioned above, and for (2), we thought that by short-cutting the construction process from skeleton → base work → finishing work to skeleton → finishing work, it would be possible to reduce the construction period and cost while expressing (1).

Exterior walls and ceilings
The ceiling was constructed with 24mm x 36mm planks as the base material, and the ceiling base was finished as it is as a cosmetic finish.
The claddings are inexpensive, but they have many bends and knots, so at a minimum, knot-free claddings were selected, and instead of allowing some bending, the latticework is three-dimensional and imperceptible.

Zashiki Floor / Wooden floor
The structural softwood plywood is sandpapered and painted.

Interior and exterior walls and floors
The plastering is thin enough to pick up the existing base without puttying, and the mortar is a mixture of cold-water stone and mortar.

Table and counter
The tops are made of laminated pine with a thickness of t=30mm, and the counters look like thicker materials by turning the curtain board. The repetition of the laminated wood pattern is utilized in the detailing, making it look like a single piece of wood without any fastening process.

The random shadows of the wooden latticework on the exterior walls are softened by the lanterns illuminating the back street, slightly darker than the front street. (Ryosuke Ono)
