〈ティップ・オブ・ノード（The Tip of Nordø）〉は、デンマーク・コペンハーゲンに位置し、世界初の「5分都市（※）」として注目されるノードハウン地区（Nordhavn）に誕生したオフィス・レジャー複合施設です。（※生活に必要な施設すべてが徒歩400m圏内に配置され、あらゆるところに5分以内でアクセスできるように設計された都市）

港の歴史とワークスペース、公共空間を融合させる建築

デンマークの建築事務所Cobe、ヴィルヘルム・ラウリッツェン・アーキテクツ、Third Natureが設計した円形のウォーターフロントランドマーク〈ティップ・オブ・ノルド〉が、コペンハーゲンのノードハウン地区に完成した。

高さ60mのガラスと陽極酸化アルミニウム（アルマイト）に包まれたオフィスビルであり、その中心にはウィンターガーデンやウォーターフロントプロムナードなどの公共機能が丁寧に組み込まれている。この新たなワークプレイスは市民の拠り所となり、ノードハウンが工業港湾から活気ある都市地区へと生まれ変わったことを象徴する存在となっている。

ノードハウン再生を告げる「灯台」

コペンハーゲン北港の端部に誕生した円形オフィス・レジャー複合施設〈ティップ・オブ・ノード〉は、かつて工業用途に用いられたノードハウンの埋め立て半島「ノード島」の最先端に位置する。

陸と海の双方から視認できる「都市の灯台」のようにそびえる円筒形のフォルムは、近隣に点在する穀物サイロを想起させるものであり、地域の産業的遺構へのオマージュを捧げながら、どの方向から見ても民主的で開かれた形態を提示している。

光・眺望・快適性を統合した応答型ファサード

ガラスと陽極酸化アルミニウムをまとう12,000m²のファサードは、詳細な日射シミュレーションに基づいて造形されている。6種類の固有角度をもつファサード要素がサイズとガラス比率を変化させることで、移ろう自然光と動的に呼応するリズミカルな外装パターンを形成する。

日射を受ける側では開口部が絞られ、眩しさや過熱を抑制し、その他の面では大開口が港のパノラマビューを大胆に切り取る。この応答性の高いファサード計画により、年間を通して自然光に満ちた快適な室内環境を実現するとともに、冷房に要するエネルギー消費の削減にも寄与している。

中核をなす公共空間「ウィンターガーデン」

内部には、コペンハーゲンの歴史的建造物〈ラウンドタワー〉と同規模の大きさをもつ円形ホールが設けられ、そこに大木が茂る豊かなウィンターガーデンが収まっている。

この魅力的な緑の空間は年間を通じて一般に公開され、建物の中心に光と自然をもたらす存在である。オフィスフロアからはこのガーデンを見下ろすことができ、1階に配されたカフェやレストランからも同様に眺望が得られる。

歴史的建物との対比が生む新たな公共空間

建物の三方には、造園されたテラスと、座席や植栽を備えたウォーターフロントプロムナードが広がり、活気ある公共空間を形成している。また、保存された旧税関庁舎がレストランとして生まれ変わり、歴史的建築と新たな建築との対比を生み出している。

こうしたランドスケープは、コペンハーゲンが推進する「ブルー・アーバン・コモンズ（blue urban commons）」を強化する。これにより、地域の利益のために年間を通じて港湾エリアのレクリエーション価値を高めるとともに、水辺に新たな歓迎の表情を与える存在となる。

A new landmark on Copenhagen’s waterfront blends work and public spaces with harbor history

The Tip of Nordø, a circular waterfront landmark designed by Danish architecture studios Cobe, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Third Nature, has been completed in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn district. Rising 60 metres, the glass-and-anodized aluminium office building incorporates thoughtful public amenities including a winter garden at its core and a waterfront promenade. This new workplace will serve as a civic anchor, showcasing Nordhavn’s transformation from industrial harbor to vibrant urban neighborhood.

The Tip of Nordø – A “lighthouse” that signals a rebirth of Nordhavn
At the edge of Copenhagen’s northern harbor, The Tip of Nordø has been completed – a 60-metre-high circular office and leisure hub. The building occupies the very tip of Nordø, a reclaimed peninsula in Nordhavn once used for industry. Standing like an urban lighthouse visible from both land and sea, its cylindrical silhouette evokes the nearby grain silos, paying homage to the area’s industrial past while presenting a democratic form from all angles.

A facade designed for light, views and comfort
The building’s 12,000-square-meter façade, clad in glass and anodized aluminium, is shaped through detailed solar radiation analysis. Six uniquely angled facade elements vary in size and glazing ratios to create a rhythmic pattern that dynamically interacts with changing daylight. Narrower openings minimize glare and overheating on sun-exposed sides, while elsewhere, panoramic harbour views are framed with expansive windows. This responsive design provides naturally lit, comfortable interiors year-round, while reducing the energy consumption for cooling.

A public winter garden at the core
Inside, a vast rotunda as large as Copenhagen’s historic Round Tower houses a lush winter garden with large trees. This inviting green space that is open to the public year-round, brings daylight and greenery into the heart of the building. Offices overlook the garden, as do the cafes and restaurants on the ground floor. Landscaped terraces and a waterfront promenade with seating and greenery create a vibrant public realm along three sides of the building. A preserved customs house, now converted into a restaurant provides a historic counterpoint. The landscape design strengthens Copenhagen’s blue urban commons, enhances the recreational value of the harbor, and gives the city a new, welcoming face at the water’s edge – for the benefit of the community, all year round.
