この建築は道路面から見ると、まるでテトリスに登場するSブロックのような形状で、1階は奥まで抜けがあるにも関わらず、裏から見るとなぜかTブロックを逆さにした形状となる。この理由は、道路面から1階の抜け部分をじっくり見るとお分かりいただけると思う。
設計にあたり、道路面から向かって右側の隣地は広い駐車場となっているが、将来建築物が建つことを前提として考えた。隣地側からの採光などはあてにせず、またプライバシーの確保の面からも隣地側にはバルコニーのみを設け、その他は閉じた。その代わりに建物を道路面に向かって右側へ寄せ、スペースの空いた左側から十分な光が採れるようにした。こうすることで1階部分に抜けのあるプランとしたが、LDKにもう少しゆとりがほしいという施主の要望を受けた。そのためキッチン部分を迫り出させたが、今度は抜けを失ってしまう。
住宅が密集し建ち並ぶ地域であるため、どうしても重くなりがちな周辺環境を少しでも明るくしたいという施主と当事務所の思いから、道路面の外壁を鏡面にすることで、疑似的な抜けをつくり、軽く明るい印象を残した。
この鏡面仕上げは、疑似的ではあるが十分に抜けを感じさせ、また駐車の際にも車が映るので安全に奥まで寄せられるという効果ももたらしている。（門内一生）
A block-shaped house with a mirror finish that brings out the surrounding area
This building looks like an S block in Tetris when viewed from the street, and even though there is an opening to the back of the first floor, it somehow looks like an upside-down T block when viewed from the back. If you look at the first floor from the street, you can understand this mystery.
In designing the house, the neighboring lot on the right side of the road is a large parking lot, but since we assumed that a building would be built in the future, we did not expect any lighting from this side. Instead, the building was moved to the right side of the street to take sufficient light from the left side. However, the client wanted a little more space in the LDK, so the kitchen area was pushed forward, but this feeling of liberation was lost.
The client and our office wanted to brighten up the surrounding environment, which tends to be heavy due to the dense residential buildings in the area, so we created a pseudo-loop by mirroring the exterior wall facing the street, leaving a light and bright impression.
The mirrored surface gives the impression of pseudo-looseness and makes it possible to safely pull up to the rear of the building when parking since the car is reflected. (Kazuo Monnai)
