宮城県仙台市に設計した店舗の計画。敷地は車通りの激しい道路と大型駐車場に接している。各方向迫った隣地建物はなく、見通しのいい郊外のロードサイドに位置する店舗である。そんなある種ありきたりのロードサイドの景色に馴染むような、ただ店舗として風景に埋没しないように設計した。
計画としては全面ガラス張りの開放的な長方形の箱を設計している。ガラス高は3400㎜とし、アイレベルからの見通しのよさを壊さないように計画した。またガラス面をギザギザと雁行させて設置していることも特徴的である。構造としては柱を建物中央に1列に配置し、その柱からやじろべえのように両側均等に延ばした梁により屋根を支えている。
雁行したガラス面は視点の動きや日差しの角度、明るさに応じ、周囲の風景を反射させたり透過したりと変化する。ガラスのもつ存在感と透明性が、明るく開放的ながらも複雑な表情の建物になればと思っている。（川嶋洋平）
A store that has both presence and transparency with a flying glass wall
This is a plan for a store I designed in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The site is bordered by a busy road and a large parking lot. The store is located in a suburban roadside area with good visibility, with no neighboring buildings in each direction. We designed the store to fit in with such a typical roadside landscape and not be buried in the landscape as just a store.
The plan is to design an open rectangular box with all glass walls. The height of the glass is set at 3400mm so as not to destroy the good visibility from the eye level. Another characteristic feature of the building is that the glass surfaces are arranged in a jagged line. The columns are placed in a single row in the center of the building. From the pillars, the roof is supported by beams that extend equally on both sides like a “Yajirobe” (balance toy).
The glazed surfaces of the building reflect and transmit the surrounding scenery according to the movement of the viewpoint, the angle of sunlight, and the brightness. Therefore, I hope that the presence and transparency of the glass will create a bright and open building with a complex expression. (Yohei Kawashima)
