〈M+K〉は、大阪の南東に位置する狭山ニュータウンという郊外型住宅地での住宅計画。40年ほど前に開発が行われ、現在もベッドタウンとして人気であり、新しい住宅が入り混じった住宅地である。
施主は子どもと愛犬が安全に元気に走り回れる住まいを希望された。
犬と共に暮らすということは、毎日の散歩など、暮らしの中で外を歩く機会が多くなるため、天気や気候、季節などの豊かな外部環境を感じ、街の中でちょっとしたコミュニケーションを地域住民とも交わすことができると考えた。そして、そのように人と犬が共に暮らすことで生み出す副産物を、住まいに積極的に取り入れたいと考えた。
そこで、住まいの中心に散歩道のような土間空間を設えた。
この散歩道は玄関であり、リビングの一角でもあり、縁側のようでもあり、廊下、テラスの一部にもなる。時には道端で世間話をするように住まいの土間でちょっとした交流もでき、間接的だけでなく直接的に地域と繋がることもできる。
将来的には、外部テラスと2階の屋上テラスを階段で結ぶことで、地域と1階、1階と2階がぐるぐる回れる通路を生み出すこともできる。
住まいの中央に散歩道を設けることで、人と人、ペットと人の関係など、何かのきっかけで新たな暮らしの彩りがこの散歩道から生まれていくことをイメージした。
また、土地の諸条件により、南面には一時的に大きな目隠しを設ける必要があるため、単管足場を下地にポリカーボネート波板を張り付ける仮設的な塀を設えた。
散歩道とテラス、リビングを一体的に扱い、室内空間と外部空間を曖昧に拡張しやすいように、仮設塀とL字型の外壁で囲った。
また、土間の屋根はFRP折板を採用し、西側の水回りボリュームに屋上テラスを配置して高さを抑えることで、いつでも自然光に包まれる構成とした。
L字の外壁は、住まいを守る恒久的に変わらない重量のある壁として、南側の塀は仮設的で軽やかな素材として、水回り壁は光や住まいの彩りを映し出す装置として、各素材を内部外部で統一して選定した。
ぐるっと囲うような住まいの構成であっても、散歩道を引き込み、どこか外のような素材、設えを構えることで、街の中で豊かさが暮らしに繋がる住まいを目指した。（斉藤智士）
A house with an earthen floor like a walkway that connects to the community
“M+K” is a housing project in a suburban residential area called Sayama New Town, located in the southeast of Osaka. Sayama New Town has developed about 40 years ago and is still popular as a bedroom community, with new houses mixed in.
The client wanted a home where the children and their dog could run around safely and energetically.
Living with a dog means that there will be many opportunities to walk outside, including daily walks. They thought that they would be able to feel the richness of the external environment, such as the weather, climate, and seasons, and also be able to communicate with the residents. We also wanted to actively incorporate the byproducts of having people and dogs living together into the house.
Therefore, we created an earthen space like a walking path in the center of the house.
This walkway is an entrance, a corner of the living room, a veranda, a corridor, and a part of the terrace. It is a place where people can interact with each other as if they were chatting on the street and connecting with the community directly and indirectly.
In the future, the exterior terrace and the second-floor rooftop terrace can be connected by a staircase to create a pathway that leads around the community and the first floor, and the first floor and the second floor.
By setting up a walkway in the center of the house, I imagined that the walkway would be the starting point for creating new colors of life, such as relationships between people, pets, and people.
Due to the conditions of the land, it was necessary to temporarily create a large blindfold on the south side of the house, so we built a temporary fence using polycarbonate corrugated sheets attached to single-pipe scaffolding.
We used the temporary and L-shaped exterior walls to treat the walkway, terrace, and living room as an integral part of the house and make it easy to expand the interior and exterior spaces ambiguously.
The roof of the earthen floor is made of FRP folded plates, and the rooftop terrace is placed on the water volume on the west side of the house to reduce its height, resulting in a composition that is always surrounded by natural light.
The L-shaped exterior wall was selected as a permanently unchanging and heavy wall to protect the house, the southern wall as a temporary and light material, and the water wall as a device to reflect light and the house’s colors.
Even though the house’s composition is such that it surrounds the house, I aimed to create a house where richness is connected to life in the city by drawing in the walkway and setting up materials and facilities that are somewhat like outside. (Satoshi Saito)
