敷地は近くに緑豊かなスポーツセンターがある閑静な住宅地の中にあり、間口11m、奥行き22mの東西に細長い敷地である。南側は木造2階建て住宅が迫っており、北側の隣地は大木に囲まれた立派な庭に面している。その敷地にカーマニアの住宅を建てることになった。
西側の前面道路から車ごと東面まで突き抜ける筒のようなイメージがプランの初めからあった。そのコンクリートの筒を3等分に分割して真ん中を削り取り、太陽光が各室に届くようにしよう。このイメージがこの住宅の骨格となっている。
1階中心部分にある開口部の床を強化合わせガラスとし地下室まで太陽光を届かせ、その上に車を載せて、愛車をまるでオブジェか玩具のように見せる仕掛けにした。その地下室は、同じく太陽光を地下室まで導くために段板を透明ガラスにし、16mm角ステンレス鋼をトラス構造にした階段を降りていくと、本格的なAVルーム、アスレチック、スタジオなどの天井高3mのホビースペースとなっている。
1階はコンセプトに従い、西側の道路から東の庭まで筒状に抜けた空間となっている。車庫の前後にシャッターを設け、床をリビングと同じ床材とし、後ろのシャッターを開け車庫スペースとリビングスペースを繋げることができ、パーティーなどの人が大勢集まるときは、1つの空間として使用できるように計画した。
エントランスには、ガラスの箱を挿入するかたちでシューズクロークとトイレを設けている。ガラスの箱にしたのは、間口の狭さを解消するために壁厚を最小にすることと、映り込み効果により圧迫感を軽減する目的である。
ファサードにはコンクリート打ち放しの外壁に、強化ガラスを外壁仕上げ材として使用している。EPG工法で取り付けたガラスと躯体との間、つまりダブルスキンによりできた空気層に溜まった熱気は熱感知器による自動制御を行い、屋上の排気筒から自然排出させている。それにより、西日による熱環境の改善を図った。そのほか、窓ガラスをすべてLow-eペアガラスとし、屋上を芝張りにするなど、室内の熱環境に配慮している。
敷地が高台に建っているために、可動テントの東屋を設けた屋上からは2階建てにもかかわらず、渋谷や新宿、世田谷の風景を一望することができる。
クライアントはこの住宅に合わせた色と形の愛車をオーダーし、届いた愛車をすべての階から眺めることができる実物大の玩具として、あるいはコンテンポラリーなオブジェとして、愛車と家族とともに過ごす日々を堪能している。（藤吉秀樹）
House that connect space and car with glass
The site is located in a quiet residential area with a lush green sports center nearby. The site is long and narrow from east to west with a frontage of 11 meters and a depth of 22 meters. A two-story wooden house looms on the south side, while the neighboring lot on the north side faces a magnificent garden surrounded by large trees. It was decided to build a car enthusiast house on the site.
From the beginning of the plan, I had an image of a cylinder penetrating the west front road to the east side of the house. I wanted to divide the concrete cylinder into three equal parts and carve out the center so that sunlight could reach each room. This image has become the framework of this house.
The floor of the opening in the center of the first floor is made of tempered laminated glass to allow sunlight to reach the basement, and the car is placed on top of it to make it look like an object or a toy. The basement is a hobby space with a ceiling height of 3m, where a full-fledged audio-visual room, an athletic field, and a studio are located after descending the stairs made of 16mm square stainless-steel trusses.
The first floor follows the concept of a tubular space that extends from the street on the west to the garden on the east. The garage has shutters at the front and rear, and the floor is made of the same material as the living room. The shutters at the rear can be opened to connect the garage space with the living room space, and the space can be used as a single space for parties and other gatherings.
There is a shoe checkroom and a toilet in the form of a glass box at the entrance. The reason for the glass box is to minimize the wall thickness to solve the narrow frontage and reduce the sense of oppression through the reflection effect.
On the façade, tempered glass is used as an exterior finishing material on the concrete exterior walls. The hot air accumulates in the air layer between the glass installed by the Edge Pointed Glazing method and the building frame. The air layer created by the double skin is automatically controlled by heat detectors and naturally discharged from the exhaust stack on the roof. The client ordered his car in color and shape to match the house and is enjoying the days he spends with his car and family as a life-size toy that can be viewed from all floors or as a contemporary object. (Hideki Fujiyoshi)
