敷地は南青山の中心に位置し、間口に対し奥行きが2倍の形状である。その奥行きを利用し、地下室にラ フェラーリという特別な車を自走で下ろす。それがクライアントの一番の要望であった。
かなり以前になるが、フェラーリF50を自走で地下に下ろした経験があったので、なんとかなる自信はあった。しかし、カタログやWEBデータに最低地上高の記載がなく、ディーラーも把握していなかった。そのため、他のフェラーリのデータを参考にして9㎝で設計を進めた。図面がほぼ完成する直前に車がイタリアから届き、実測すると5㎝しかなく、そのうえホイールベースや前後のオーバーハングがそうとう長かったため、改めて車路の断面設計をやり直さなくてはならなくなった。複雑なS字曲線を組み合わせることで、何とかギリギリでクリアすることができた。安全を期するために、浦和の工場で車路の断面を原寸大でつくり、車の断面模型を走らせて、クリアしていることを確認した。
プランとしては中心に8m角の中庭（池）を設け、採光と通風を各部屋に送る計画になっている。この中庭は私が設計をするうえで最も大切にしている空間の広がりや、自然の移ろいを各部屋に投影させる重要な要素となっている。
また、中庭や水盤に大きなガラス開口を設け、地下室に水落ちの波でゆらゆらと揺らぐ光を落とす仕掛けを設けた。1階の天井高に合わせて1面をミラー貼りにすることで、広がりとエッシャー的な錯覚で、夜になると特に不思議な映像を楽しむこともできる。
地下室にはラフェラーリを中心にしたホビールームやワインセラー、和室、ホームシアター、30畳の倉庫がある。1階はリビングを中心にしたパブリックゾーンで、中庭や2階寝室の吹き抜けがリビングに豊かな空間の広がりをもたらしている。
2階には寝室とゲストルーム、3階は寝室という構成である。また、各寝室にはそれぞれ専用の洗面、バス、トイレが付属している。各フロアをガラス製の透明感のある階段で繋いでおり、屋上へは玄関から見上げると半分迫り出した、ステンレスとガラス製のオブジェのような螺旋階段を使用する。
この住宅は、すべてが都市型の邸宅に相応しいつくりとなっている。（藤吉秀樹）
Courtyard-type mansion that allows the car to drive itself to the basement
The site is located in the center of Minami Aoyama and is twice as deep as its frontage. The plan was to use this depth to lower a special car, a LaFerrari, into the basement by itself. This was the client’s most important request.
I had the experience of lowering a Ferrari F50 into the basement by myself a long time ago, so I was confident that I could manage it. However, there was no mention of the minimum ground clearance in the catalog or web data, and the dealer did not know about it. Therefore, we proceeded with the design with 9cm, referring to the data of other Ferraris. Just before the drawing was almost completed, the car arrived from Italy, and we measured it and found that it was only 5cm high and the wheelbase and front/rear overhangs were quite long, so we had to redesign the cross-section of the roadway. By combining complicated S-curves, we managed to clear the problem just in time. To ensure safety, we made a full-scale cross-section of the roadway at the factory in Urawa and ran a cross-sectional model of the car to confirm that it was clear.
The plan is to have an 8m square courtyard (pond) in the center of the building to provide light and ventilation to each room. This courtyard is an important element in projecting the expanse of space and the transition of nature to each room, which I value most in my design work.
I also created large glass openings in the courtyard and the water basin to create a mechanism that allows the light to shimmer in the basement with the waves of the falling water, and by mirroring the ceiling height of the first floor, one can enjoy the expanse and the Escher-like illusion of a mysterious image, especially at night.
There is a hobby room in the basement with a LaFerrari as its centerpiece, a wine cellar, a Japanese-style room, a home theater, and a 48m² storage room. The first floor is a public zone with the living room as its center, and the courtyard and the atrium of the second-floor bedroom bring a rich sense of space to the living room.
The second floor consists of a bedroom and a guest room, and the third floor consists of bedrooms. Each bedroom has its wash, bath, and toilet. A transparent glass staircase connects each floor, and the roof is reached by a spiral staircase that looks like a stainless steel and glass object, half overhanging the entrance.
Everything about this house is appropriate for an urban residence. (Hideki Fujiyoshi)
