昭和45年創業の旅館にある1階ロビーのリノベーションと客室の修繕計画である。
ロビーにはカフェバー機能を付加するために、ホテルのように広いロビーを設けるのではなく、民宿の馴染みやすく落ち着きのある雰囲気のロビーを目指した。それを実現するにあたり、広いロビーに客室のようなスケール感の箱を2つ挿入した。
1つの箱は1階床レベルから150mm高くしており、ソファでくつろげる空間に、もう一方は300mm高くして床座の空間にしており、地元の人々や観光客までさまざまな客層の、幅広い年齢層がくつろげるような場所とした。またそのどちらにも既存の開口があり、渓谷を眺めることができる。
また箱の外側は前面道路からひと続きの外のような場所として、グレー塩ビタイルの空間としている。そこは植物好きなクライアントがプランターを置くことで、より外部のような雰囲気となり、箱と中・外のコントラストが相互に関係しあいながら豊かな空間となっている。
箱により前面道路と渓谷の間を多様な空間を重層させることで、周辺とは異なる経験と眺望をもたらすようなリノベーション計画である。（西田庸平＋星安康至）
The lobby of the inn where two boxes are inserted to create a diverse and layered space
This is a renovation plan for the first-floor lobby and repair of guest rooms in an inn established in 1970.
To add a cafe-bar function to the lobby, we aimed to create a lobby with a guest house’s familiar and relaxed atmosphere, rather than a large lobby like a hotel. To achieve this, we inserted two boxes in the large lobby with the scale of a guest room.
One box is raised 150mm above the first-floor level to provide a space for relaxing on a sofa, and the other is raised 300mm to provide a space for seating on the floor, where a wide range of guests, from locals to tourists, can relax. Both of these spaces have existing openings that offer a view of the valley.
The outside of the box is a space made of gray vinyl chloride tiles connected to the road. The contrast between the box, the inside, and the outside is interrelated and creates a rich space.
It is a renovation project that brings a different experience and view from the surrounding area by layering various spaces between the road in front and the valley with the box. (Yohei Nishida + Koji Hoshiyasu)
