WHILLはパーソナルモビリティの開発を軸に移動スタイルの提案を行うベンチャー企業である。
以前は業種ごとの建物、部屋に分かれていたメンバーたちが、新オフィスでは1つの空間に混在することになった。
ある人はPCや書類に向かい、一方ではマシンの分解や組み立てで工具を扱い、社内でWHILL機を乗り回す。オフィスの使い方にも人それぞれの生態があるようだった。
それらをごちゃまぜにした混乱が、アグレッシブなパワーのひとかたまりとして現れるように、デスクエリア全体はオーバルトラックと薄膜でやわらかく包まれた。
オーバルトラックはこのフロアで最も有用なWHILL機の走行軌跡を写しとった走行コースになっていて、ここを自動運転WHILL機がぐるぐると走り回る様子は象徴的なものになっている。
家具には主に天然木を使いながら、電源、照明などもカスタマイズを前提としている。
汚れ、傷、改造、あるいは悪戯、といったような変化を容認する家具としてあるように。
他人行儀でなく、自分のオフィスとしてあり得るために、多様なメンバーがそれぞれに巣づくり、あるいはマーキングをしてほしい。それはきっとまた豊かな混乱を起こすだろう。（たしろまさふみ）
An Aggressive office where personal mobility runs on the floor
WHILL is a venture company that proposes a new style of mobility based on the development of personal mobility devices.
The members of the company, who were previously divided into different buildings and rooms for different industries, are now mixed in one space in the new office.
Some work on PCs and documents, others handle tools for disassembling and assembling machines, and still, others ride around on the WHILL machine in the office. It seemed that each person had their own ecology in office usage.
The whole desk area was softly wrapped with oval tracks and thin films to represent the chaos of mixing them up as positive power.
The oval track is a running track that depicts the driving trajectory of the company’s personal mobility WHILL machine. The sight of the self-driving WHILL machine running around the track is symbolic of this.
The furniture is mainly made of natural wood, while the power supply, lighting, etc., are also designed to be customized.
We think of the furniture as tolerating changes such as stains, scratches, modifications, or even pranks.
I would like to see various members building or marking their own nests so that it can be their own office, not someone else’s. It would surely create another rich mess. (Masafumi Tashiro)
