店名の「ポッケ」とは、北海道の先住民族であるアイヌの言葉で「温かい」という意味。雪山にあるロッジがスキー客を温かくもてなしてくれるように、眩しい六本木の街の中にある、ほっこりと寛げるバーをコンセプトに設計した。
既存の天井・壁・床・設備をそのまま活用するという、設計内容としてはミニマムなプロジェクト。地下の薄暗い店内に、最小限の演出で北海道の大自然を感じられる温かな空間を生み出す方法を考えた。
改修前の状態は今回のコンセプトとはほど遠く、剥き出しの天井が無機質で冷たい印象を与えていた。そこで、暖炉やロウソク、フロアライトを中心に光の重心を下げ、暗い空間の中に各席が柔らかく照らし出されるような照明計画とした。各席を隔てる壁がなくても明暗が空間を分け、各々の居場所をつくり出す。
営業上必要なカラオケモニターは暖炉上部のマジックミラーの中隠し、自然的なイメージを壊さないよう徹底している。
設計をするうえで、「女性をより艶やかに演出するバー」という裏のコンセプトがあった。デートシーンに華を添える、裏方的な役割を果たす空間を目指し、カウンターには栃の木（トチノキ）の1枚板を採用した。
シルクのようにゆらゆらとした板目がお酒を持つ手を美しく見せ、カウンターに反射した光が表情を美しく照らす。
包み込むような温かさがありながらも、日常から切り離された刺激的な時間を楽しんでもらえると嬉しい。（深田哉々）
A bar whose materiality evokes the great outdoors
The name of the shop, Pokke, means ‘warm’ in the language of the Ainu, the indigenous people of Hokkaido. Like how the alpine lodge within the snowy mountain warmly welcomes skiers and snowboarders, the bar is designed to be a place of relaxation within the dazzling Roppongi town.
This is a minimal project in terms of actual design content, as it mainly utilizes existing ceilings, walls, floors and equipment. We thought of a way to create a space that is warm, but also one that reflects Hokkaido’s great sense of natural wonder, all while minimally changing the existing architecture.
Before the completion of Pokke, the space was far removed from this idea, the exposed ceiling giving off an inorganic and cold impression. Now, the low centre of gravity of the fireplace, candles and floor lights creates a space that is softly illuminated at each seat within an overall darkened room. Despite there being no walls that separate each seat, light and dark provide a sense of division within the space, creating a booth-like experience for each customer.
The karaoke monitor is hidden behind a magic mirror above the fireplace, so as not to spoil the aura of nature.
The bar itself was designed with the concept of accentuating female glamour and elegance. The counter is made of a beautiful single piece of Japanese Horse Chestnut wood, with its silk-like cross grain serving to highlight the hand that holds the glass.
The counter’s high polish softly illuminates the customers’ expressions from below.
