COVID-19により人々の生活様式が変化したことで、eコマースが急伸し、インフラである物流施設の需要は増している。本施設は33万㎡という広大な敷地に4期に渡って計画されている物流施設の1期目で、首都圏最大規模の延床19.6万㎡を誇り、南北2カ所にラウンジを設置するなどアメニティスペースの拡充が計られた。
敷地内の「金沢の森」は30 年ほど前に植樹されたものだが、荒廃が進んでいたため、ランドスケープデザイナーの手によって再生された。本件ではアメニティスペースだけでなくファサードのデザインもタカトタマガミデザインが担っている。
捻りを伴うリボン状の装飾でファサードを覆い、社会のインフラとしての需要が急激に高まった「物流」の躍動感を表現した。これは港という立地性を象徴する波や風のメタファーでもある。リボンには軽量のファイバーメッシュ素材を採用し、強風対策や施工性に配慮した。リボンは銅色とし電球色の照明を沿わせた。これにより近隣の工場の煙突が吐く炎や夕日に馴染ませ、横浜港に向けて巨大なロゴサインを浮き上がらせた。
北側最上階の共用ラウンジ「KLÜBB Lounge NORTH（北ラウンジ）」からは工業地帯越しに横浜港が見渡せるが、眼下にある「金沢の森」へ指向性をもたせるため、天井の一部を垂れ下げるように壁へと変化させる意匠とした。これにより洞窟が幾重も重なるような包まれた安心感のある空間を目指した。さらに天井高や垂れ壁間の幅を操作し、場所ごとの居心地に差異を与えた。窓際空間の天井は鏡とし、庭園に対し相互にアクティビティを映し出す関係性をもたせた。
南側最上階の共用ラウンジ「KLÜBB Lounge SOUTH （南ラウンジ）」には2本のリボン状の造作をエレベーターホールから奥へとぐるぐると旋回させるように設えた。リボンにはそれぞれ異なる質感を与え、間に照明を仕込み対比を際立たせることでその動きを強調した。リボンは床、壁、天井へ変化しながら空間を緩やかに仕切り、さまざまな居心地の場を生み出す。時にはカウンターやベンチのような居場所をつくりながら階段へと変化し利用者を屋上へと導く役割を担っている。
「BARNKLÜBB （託児所）」は、津波・高潮対策により地表より3mの高さを1階としている。この階に位置する託児所からは本施設の象徴である「金沢の森」が正面に見渡せる。そのため、森に向けて大開口越しに室内とデッキスペースが連続する設えとした。保育室の天井には「金沢の森」にある瓢箪池を模した折上天井をあしらい、見る角度や時間帯、天候によって色が変化する構造色塗装を施した。池や森が語りかけてくる寓話の世界のように子供たちの思考を刺激する場を目指した。（玉上貴人）
Rest area for relaxation, overlooking the harbour and revitalised on-site garden
As people’s lifestyles have changed with the COVID-19 pandemic, e-commerce has grown rapidly and the demand for logistics facilities has increased. ESR Yokohama Sachiura DC1 is the first of a four-phase logistics facility project on a vast site of 330,000 ㎡, with a total floor area of 196,000 ㎡ (the largest in the Tokyo metropolitan area) and expanded amenity spaces, including two lounges in the north and south areas of the facility. As part of the development of ESR Yokohama Sachiura DC1, the “Kanazawa Forest” on the site was restored by a landscape designer. The forest was created 30 years ago but had fallen into disrepair.
Takato Tamagami Design was responsible for the design of not only the amenity space but also the facade of the building. The facade is covered with twisted ribbon-like decorations, reflecting the dynamism of “logistics”, which has seen a rapid increase in demand. This is also a metaphor for the waves and wind that come, with facility’s location near the port. The ribbon is made of lightweight fibre mesh material to protect against strong winds and to make it easy to install. The ribbon is copper-coloured and features lighting that blends in with the flames emitted by the nearby factory chimneys and the setting sun, and allows the prominent ESR logo to stand out against the Port of Yokohama.
“KLÜBB Lounge NORTH” on the top floor at the north side of the building overlooks the Port of Yokohama. A portion of the ceiling is transformed into a hanging wall, creating a space that resembles caves. The space’s ceiling, which is made of stainless steel, functions like a mirror, reflecting the Kanazawa Forest.
At “KLÜBB Lounge SOUTH” on the top floor at the south side, two ribbon-like structures are installed circularly from the hall to the back of the building. The ribbons were given different textures, and lighting was installed between them to accentuate the contrast and emphasise the movement of the ribbons. The ribbons also create counters and benches, and transform into stairs that lead users to the rooftop.
On the ground floor, the nursery “BARNKLÜBB (daycare centre)” overlooks the “Kanazawa Forest” and is directly connected to it. The nursery room has a folded ceiling modelled after the gourd pond in the “Kanazawa Forest.” It is painted in a structural colour that changes depending on the angle, time of day, and weather conditions. The goal was to create a place that stimulates the minds of the children, as if in the world of a fable where the pond and forest would speak to them. (Takato Tamagami)
