大阪中之島、リーガロイヤルホテル内にある〈PISA ROYAL〉。
前身である新大阪ホテルが開業したのは1935年。「ホテルの中に街を！」のコンセプトから、欧米のブランドを揃えた大型のショッピングゾーンが完成した。世界の一流ブティックのあるパリの「Palais Royal」にちなみ「パレロイヤル」と名付けられた。
そして1973年、ハイジュエリー、プレステージウォッチ、アンティーク、美術品など国内外の逸品を取り揃え、上質な時間・空間の中でショッピングを楽しめる特別な場所として〈PISA ROYAL〉は誕生した。
我々はこれらの重厚な歴史・ブランドストーリー、そして水の街「中之島」というロケーションを頼りに、現代における上質な空間を表現したいと考えた。
ハイジュエリー、プレステージウォッチ、アンティーク、美術品を扱うエリアに加え、より豊かな時間を過ごしてもらうためのサロンとバー、という2つのコンテンツを加え、それらの空間を象徴的なゲートでつなげることとした。ゲートをくぐることでシーンが変わる様子は、まるで邸宅の中を歩いているかのよう。
上質な商品と呼応するように内部の設えは平坦ではなく、表情そして深みのある素材で仕立てている。
サロンではさまざまな商談や展示会が開かれることから、一部を広いフィッティングルームとして使用できるなど、重厚でありながらもフレキシブルな計画としている。
バーではより深いコミュニケーションが生まれ、お酒を愉しみながらジュエリーやウォッチなどを選ぶことができる。背面の象徴的なワインボトルは、錫の街、大阪の歴史的背景から錫箔でコーティングされ、鈍く光を拡散し上質な雰囲気を醸し出している。
〈PISA ROYAL〉の敷地を取り囲むように配置されている柱は、ガラスとタイルの異素材で構成することで水面の反射を表現した。
アンティークゾーンの特注のカーペットは、中之島を取り囲む水面をモチーフに、PISAのアルファベットをパターン状に織り込み、現代的な解釈で表現している。
意識を変える空間と空間をつなぐ大胆なゲート、歴史や商品に呼応する素材、細部まで拘ったディテール、それらが一体となり、上質な空間・時間が編み込まれていく。（平綿久晃）
A high-quality shopping space connected by an iconic gate
PISA ROYAL is located in the Rihga Royal Hotel in Nakanoshima, Osaka.
Its predecessor, the Shin-Osaka Hotel, opened in 1935. The concept of “a town inside a hotel! The concept of “a town within a hotel” led to the completion of a large shopping zone with European and American brands. It was named “Palais Royal” after the Palais Royal in Paris, where the world’s leading boutiques are located.
In 1973, PISA ROYAL was born a special place where customers can enjoy shopping in a high-quality time and space with a wide selection of domestic and foreign luxury goods such as high jewelry, prestige watches, antiques, and works of art.
Relying on these profound histories and brand stories and the location in Nakanoshima, the city of water, we wanted to create a high-quality space for the modern age.
In addition to an area selling high jewelry, prestige watches, antiques, and art, we added two contents, a salon, and a bar, for people to spend a more prosperous time and connected these spaces with a symbolic gate. The scene changes as you pass through the gate as if you were walking through a mansion.
To match the high quality of the products, the interior design is not flat but made of materials with expression and depth.
The salon can be a large fitting room for various business meetings and exhibitions, making it a dignified yet flexible space.
A bar is a place for deeper communication, where people can choose jewelry and watches while enjoying drinks. The iconic wine bottle on the back of the bar is coated with tin foil, which diffuses the light dully and creates a high-quality atmosphere due to the historical background of Osaka, the city of tin.
The pillars surrounding the PISA ROYAL site are made of different materials, glass, and tile, to express the reflection of the water surface.
The custom-made carpet in the antique zone is a modern interpretation of the PISA alphabet, woven into a pattern with the motif of the water surface surrounding Nakanoshima.
Bold gates that connect spaces that change consciousness, materials that respond to history and products, and meticulous details all come together to weave a high-quality space and time. (Hisaaki Hirawata)
